Skincare Must Haves For Youthful Skin

Well, hello there!

You guys know how much I love skincare – after years of battling break outs both large and small, I finally feel like I’ve got my skin in a good place. Besides the occasional pimple here and there, my skin is nearly breakout free!

I used to have tons of small bumps on my forehead that wouldn’t ever go away. I have combination, oily skin so finding moisturizers and serums that work for my all-over-the-place skin can be tricky, but I’ve finally found some products that work for me and I hope that they will for you, too!

There are so many reasons that I love The Body Shop. Aside from their amazing products that actually work, they’re a company that’s driven by a mission and purpose. Their goal is to become the world’s most ethical and sustainable company by 2020 – tracing the sustainability and water footprint of all of their products is top of mind for them.

Did I mention that they’re a 100% cruelty free company? Here’s a little excerpt from their website:

“We aim to be the world’s most ethical and sustainable global business. Our Enrich Not Exploit™ Commitment includes 14 targets for The Body Shop to achieve by 2020. The targets are the clearest manifestation of who we are and what we stand for as a business.”

The Body Shop

So, without further adieu… let’s get into it, shall we?

Youth Concentrate (Serum)

Whether you have oily skin, dry skin or pesky combination skin like I do, this serum is quickly going to become your BFF. It’s lightweight, fragrance free and perfect for morning and night time use.

In the mornings, the first thing I do after lightly cleansing my face with water is apply this Youth Concentrate serum. This little bottle packs a punch and a little goes along way. But, applying it underneath my makeup as a lightweight moisturizer in the morning helps to keep my skin looking glowy, fresh and hydrated. It doesn’t make me “oilier” throughout the day, which I know is a concern of mine and I’m sure many of you with oily / combo skin. I swear that my makeup applies smoother and easier when I use this.

At night, I apply this underneath my moisturizer or sleeping mask. It works WITH any products that I layer on top. It helps to tighten my pores, and overtime, gives my skin longevity. While you may be in your 20’s like me, using anti-aging products helps to prevent fine lines, wrinkles and larger pores before they happen.

Bouncy Sleeping Mask

Honestly, I don’t know how I lived so long without this product. This is the first sleeping mask that I’ve ever used and it’s safe to say that I’m hooked!

You apply this product after the serum and you can layer other products ontop. However, I don’t think that it’s necessary because this stuff is powerful. It’s enriched with stem cells from edelweiss ( a flower that belongs to the daisy + sunflower family ). The texture is insane, it get’s it’s name “bouncy” because it’s truly… bouncy! It’s a gel-cream formula that your skin sucks up – it provides instant hydration and when you wake up, your skin is soft, supple and more plump!

This stuff can be used a few times a week, or if you’re insane like me… every night! I think it would be perfect for wearing on a long flight, or after a night of working late. Regardless, this stuff is a must have in your repertoire.

One question that I got is if this stuff is overly-fragrant or perfumed. The answer is no! Just like the rest of these products, they smell good, but it’s so subtle that it doesn’t linger on your skin which I know could be an issue with sensitive skin, especially if you’re wearing this mask overnight!

Youth Liquid Peel

Now, I’ve talked about this stuff before in another blog post, but I’ll give you the quick gist of the situation.

YOU NEED THIS. Enough said? Ok great. LOL!

No but seriously… if you’re in the market for a new exfoliator or if you don’t have one currently, look no further than the Liquid Peel chemical exfoliator.

There are two forms of exfoliators: chemical and physical. When most people think of exfoliators you think of the St. Ive’s apricot scrub that we all used back in 7th grade. BUT, these abrasive exfoliators actually harm your face. Sure, they may be great to use on tougher areas of your body like your chest or back, but you want to be careful with the skin on your face! It’s delicate and you don’t want to use something too abrasive that could harm it or create micro-cuts / abrasions!

So, that’s where chemical exfoliators like this one come into play – you apply this directly to your face with your hands after cleaning off your skin. You rub for about 30 seconds and you’ll watch as your skin literally starts to peel away in your hands.

Now, don’t let that scare you! It doesn’t hurt what-so-ever, but what it’s doing is removing the dead skin cells, pollution and left over makeup residue off of your skin. It’s regenerating your skin and leaving it brighter and more youthful. Overtime, this can help to fade dark spots left over from previous break outs.

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions that you may have!
