Christmas in Philly: Dilworth Park

It’s almost Christmas Time, my friends! Billy and I are going to be spending the day doing last minute Christmas shopping – I have literally pushed it off until the last minute this year… YIKES. I blame it on the fact that us geniuses decided to uproot our lives and move the week before Christmas ;).

Anyways, I wanted to share a fun Christmas / Holiday time activity to do right here in the City of Sistelry Love! There’s absolutely nothing that I love more than the holidays in the city – it truly comes alive. Every street is decorated, there are hidden little gems of streets that are lit up (Addison Street in Rittenhouse).

But one of my favorite traditions is to head down to City Hall and Dilworth Park – there’s a huge Christmas tree that they cut down in New York and bring into the city. Seriously, that thing has gotta be 20 feet tall or something crazy. They set up a little Christmas village in LOVE Park, and have an ice skating rink right across the street in Dilworth Park.

There are tons of little festive stands that sell everything from ornaments to hot chocolate to macaroons. An ice skating rink is set up right in front of City Hall making it the perfect destination for a night out on the town. If you stick around until it gets dark, they do a light show complete with music and all!

Right in the middle of City Hall is this gorgeous carousel – it looks like something out of a Hallmark movie! Around the carousel are more stands with hot chocolate, candy and more!

So, if you’re looking for a last minute getaway to the city don’t forget to check out Dilworth Park!

Happy (almost) Christmas and talk tomorrow!

x,
Emily
