3 Fun City Date Night Ideas

Happy Friday my friends! I feel like this week flew by?

Today’s post is going to be dedicated to all of my Philly friends looking for new and fun date night ideas. I’ve rounded up three different ideas for you and your beau including a fun Anniversary Idea.

I truly feel like there’s something here for everyone and every couple.

Fun Night Out: Bowling and Dinner

I love bowling! It’s so fun to compete against Billy because bowling is one of the few things that I’m slightly better at than him when it comes to sports.

There are four great bowling alley’s in the city (that I know of), my favorite is Lucky Strike located right in Center City. It’s easily accessible and has tons of other games like ping pong tables, arcade games if bowling isn’t your thing! You can play by the hour or the game, both are fairly affordable!

You could start the night out dining at Bud & Marilyns – one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It’s located a few blocks away from the bowling alley! If you go, you need to order the cheese board and short rib stroganoff – it’s literally insane. The restaurant is dimly lit so it’s perfect for a cozy dinner on the town!

Cozy Friday Night “Wine” Down: Wine Bar and ~Fancy~ Pizza

Can I get an hallelujah for wine and pizza?!

Zavino Wine Bar has an awesome wine menu where you can sample different wines in both full and half glasses. I like to get two half glasses of different wines to start, that way I can try out different ones (I’m a red kind of gal)!

They’ve also got insane brick oven pizza – you know, the fancy kind of pizza with the puffy crust and perfectly smokey flavor. I’m obsessed with fancy pizza (cc: Pizzareia Vetri is also an amazing ~fancy~ pizza spot). Anyways, Zavino Wine Bar has two locations: one in Washington Square West at 13th and Sansom, and another location in University City.

PRO TIP: Call ahead 15 minutes before you head over, have the hostess save you a table. If the weather’s nice, both locations have killer outdoor patios. In the winter, they have heating lamps overtop the tables!

Anniversary Idea: The Love + Gelato

If it’s your special day coming up, there’s no better restaurant to book a reservation for than The Love (how fitting is the name).

It’s one of Philly’s newest restaurants and it is to die for. The menu is so innovative, fun and delicious. Order the cheese board, steak tartare and a glass of wine to start, you’ll thank me later (the fresh honeycomb is unreal).

Anyways, you can expect incredible service and if you tell them that it’s your anniversary, I’m sure that they’ll give you the best seat in the house! Picture a cozy candle light dinner with amazing food and atmosphere.

The restaurant is located right at 18th and Sansom – a block away from Rittenhouse Park. This also means that it’s right near one of my favorite places to get dessert: Capogiro Gelato. My mouth is watering just thinking about it, it’s located right on 20th and Sansom – two blocks away from The Love. My favorite flavors are the dark chocolate and nutella. Billy loves the coconut flavor and any of the other sweeter, more berry like flavors!

So, next time you’re in a pinch and can’t think of what to do on date night – give one of these ideas a try!
