August Favorites

Is it too late to do an August Favorites blog post?

I’ve never done one of these but back in middle school and high school when my guilty pleasure was watching makeup videos, I used to be obsessed with watching monthly favorites. There’s something so good about a round up of someone’s favorite products.

So, I thought that I would bring this idea to the blog for the month of August. I’ll be sharing all of my favorite products that I’ve been loving + absolutely living for.

These aren’t all necessarily fashion or skincare related, but they’re products that I’ve just been constantly using in life! Because there’s a lot more to my life than just outfits from Forever 21, ya know!

Kay, now let’s get started!

I’ve legit been using this stuff since High School. Wanna know why? Because I haven’t been able to find a replacement – drug store or high end – that out performs this powder.

First of all, there’s a wide range of shades, something to suit everyone. But, back in the day (lol, circa 2009 as a freshman in high school) there just weren’t options at the drug store like there are today. The shade ranges were bleak, all of the major cosmetics companies at the drugstore hadn’t jumped on the inclusivity train yet.

However, L’Oreal always had a shade that matched me. All of their shades are broken out into three categories: warm, neutral, cool. Nowadays, this is totally normal but back in 2009 this was mindblowing. Like, BOOM, duh… “why didn’t I think of that” type of thing.

Anyways, I use the shade W6 and W7 depending on the season. They mattify me, blend out effortlessly, and stay in place all day. Most mornings, I’ll apply some concealer on any redness or spots and dab some lighter concealer underneath my eyes for brightness. Then I’ll dust this powder all over my face to finish off the face. It provides extra coverage + color, giving my face life again.

I’m not even going to lie, this stuff is pretty pricey. But let me just tell ya, it is worth every penny. I got it in my PLAY! by Sephora bag for August and have quite literally used it every single day since.

First of all, the texture is unlike any other moisturizer that I’ve used before. It’s thick (but not too thick), it feels substantial. Kind of like you’re putting on a moisturizer that is packed full of good ingredients (which it is).

It’s got Vitamin C in it which helps promote collagen rejuvenation + you all know that I’m so into wrinkle prevention. When I wake up the next morning, my skin feels as though it’s just been injected with pillowy clouds. It feels firm, full + brightened.

Side note, it smells like the most heavenly scent ever. Kind of like you’re smothering the faintest scent of orangey-rose onto your skin. I’m here for it.

OK, so if you know me at all then you know how addicted I am to La Croix. I’m basically ready to name my first born Croix after this freakin’ seltzer.

I’m a self proclaimed recovering soda addict (honestly, working on it) + this seltzer has been my savior. Billy + I buy at least two cases of it every week at Whole Foods when we go grocery shopping. The mango flavor is to die for (probably my favorite one, but they’re always sold out of it).

Anyways, this stuff contains no sugar, no calories, no carbs, and no caffeine. So, it’s basically a guilt free drink. Make sure to drink it cold from the fridge or poured over a glass of ice.

Facial shaving, ladies… Are you into it?! I am… I’ve been shaving those pesky “peach fuzz” baby hairs off of my face // mustache // hair line for as long as I can remember. Except, my peach fuzz isn’t as cute + dainty as the name sounds. It’s dark + noticeable… Not my cup of tea.

So, I use a female facial razor or a “touch up” razor to remove all unwanted hairs on my face. IT WORKS WONDERS.

Just because I know that you’re all wondering… No, it doesn’t grow back all thick // prickly like a man’s beard. For me, it just… grows back. No thickness, no texture… Just reappears so I reshave.

It’s been a well kept secret in the skincare industry as well – celebrities have been shaving their faces for as long as the “show bizz” has been around. It actually exfoliates your skin as you shave. So, if you’re like me + are prone to texture on your face… Give facial shaving a try.

You all are probably thinking, “wtf is she okay, she must be obsessed with fizzy drinks”. And that statement couldn’t be more of the dang truth.

KAY, so I was introduced to Spindrift last month while I was perusing the aisles at Whole Foods. My eyes landed on this very Insta-worthy bottle – a cute lil picture of grapefruit in a pink can? I’m in.

But what’s even better is the TASTE of this stuff. It’s got a lil fruit juice in it (just a tiny amount) that helps add a little more of a kick // zest to the drink.

For those beginner seltzer drinkers (trust me, I know that it takes some getting used to) you should try this stuff out to start. It’s only got 3 grams of sugar in the entire can, so you don’t have to feel guilty about it. But it makes for the perfect addition to any meal or can be used for a fizzy afternoon pick-me-up.
