What Billy Has Taught Me… How To Turn Dreams Into Reality

Oh wow, where do I start?

I truly believe that each person in your life was put there for a very specific reason.

To teach you lessons – you know, the ones that you need to learn in order to grow. They come into your life to shift you, guide you, shake your life up + awaken you to all that life has to offer.

That’s what this guy has done for me.

Billy and I started dating while I was still in college. I’d come to Philly every weekend to see him + we’ve sort of been two peas in a pod ever since.

Aside from being my boyfriend and best friend, he’s also my partner.

He’s taught me so much about self belief + embracing my quirks. He’s encouraged me to be the weirdo. Stand apart from the crowd by being more of myself.

So, I thought that I’d dedicate today’s #RealnessChallenge post to be all about some of the lessons that he’s taught me about dream chasing, business + life.

  1. BE UNAPOLOGETICALLY YOURSELF… If I were to pick three words to describe Billy they would be: determined, passionate + high on life. Ok, that last one was more than three words but I couldn’t find the right word to fit him. The guy’s full of energy. He’s hilarious. He’s weird. He’s determined. He’s hardworking. He’s got a zeal for life that injects energy into any room. He’s taught me that you’ve really just gotta scrap it all. Scrap the masks that society wants you to wear. Scrap the stories that society wants you to believe. Be yourself. Walk in your authenticity, and be unapologetic about it. Because at the end of the day, people will love you for YOU.
  2. DREAMS COME WITH A PRICE TAG… and that price tag is hard work. For those of you who don’t know. Just over a year ago, Billy quit his job where he became the #1 salesman in the ENTIRE company in just ONE YEAR. We were days away from leaving for California (right before my birthday, might I add) to celebrate his success where he was going to be honored in-front of the highest executives at the company. But, something didn’t feel right. He knew that it was time for him to pivot + pursue his dreams. So, he quit the job just days before we were about to leave for the trip where he would be recognized for all of his hard work. Something didn’t feel right to him – why would he be recognized for something that his heart wasn’t in anymore. Well, since the day that he made the decision to leave that job + pursue this business venture, he’s worked tirelessly to turn the vision + dream that he had for his company into a reality. And he did it. Through this journey, it’s shown me that your dreams ARE possible and achievable, but you’ve gotta WORK for them. Nothing comes to an idle body, you can’t just sit there all day sending out good woo woo energy, hoping that your dreams will come true. Manifestation is real, but so is hard work + perseverance.
  3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF MORE THAN ANYTHING OR ANYONE ELSE… at the beginning of chapter/pursuit/venture it can be easy to doubt yourself. At first it’s exciting and alluring, but then reality sets in and things can become overwhelming. But, in order to get where you want to go you’ve gotta believe in yourself more than you’ve ever believed in anything in your entire life! Sure, there will be harder days – but if there’s one thing that you’ve gotta be committed to… it’s yourself. If you don’t believe in you, then how can anyone else? Know your worth. Know your power. When we first started dating, there were so many instances where Billy kept reminding me to not sell myself short. To believe in myself + be confident in my own abilities.

I hope that you guys enjoyed this post. He’s such a huge part of my life + I know that the lessons that he’s taught me can help all of you as well.

I’m thinking of doing a Q + A with him where I interview him (or, maybe ask him some questions that you guys have on starting your own business/goals/etc.) What do you think?

Talk tomorrow!
