Having combination/oily skin can be so frustrating at times! Sometimes I’m scared to hug people because I don’t want my makeup to rub off on their clothes ?. Seriously, it happens a lot & now that we’re moving into the spring/summer seasons I need to be extra cautious! Finding a foundation and concealer that can power through and last on my oilier spots is always an uphill battle. Finding a foundation and concealer that don’t break me out, now that’s even harder.
On a typical day, I’ll wear liquid foundation and spot conceal any trouble areas. I still occasionally breakout on my forehead, and find myself needing extra coverage for those pesky blemishes and red spots. When I’m just running errands or don’t want to wear makeup, I’ll conceal where I need to and just set the rest of my face with powder. Finding a full-coverage concealer that lasts is so hard. I also have trouble matching shades to my skin tone – I get pretty tan in the summer and outgrow my winter shades as soon as my skin touches the sun.
For all of you combination/oily skin girls and my fellow bronzed babes, keep reading because I’ve found the perfect concealer for us!
Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer
This stuff is hands down my new favorite concealer. Is it just me or does anyone else apply concealer in the morning, and then by lunch time you have to touch it up because it’s just disappeared. Yeah, totally vanished, melted away, disappeared into thin air! . But, I’ve finally found the answer to this! Enter Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Concealer, not only do they have a killer shade range for this product, but this stuff has amazing coverage.
When picking out a concealer, especially one that’s higher end, I look for a few key things. I like a concealer that’s long-wearing, blendable and full-coverage. I want my concealer to last all day, I don’t want to have to worry about it vanishing or smudging off onto my clothing (or other people’s for that matter). However, the problem with a lot of long-wearing products is that they dry really quickly. Before you even have time to dampen your beauty blender or sponge, the concealer has already dried making it almost impossible to blend out. The last quality that I look for in a concealer is how full-coverage it is. What even is the point of a concealer if it doesn’t, well, conceal?! I hate it when I buy one that I think I’m going to really love, get home, rip it open only to find that you need like 10 coats to even build it up to medium coverage.
This concealer from Laura Mercier is amazing. It’s all of those thing that I’ve listed above, and more. The shade range is phenomenal – I’ve found it to be fairly inclusive – I have tanner skin, especially in the summer, and find it super hard to get a shade that matches me. I’m super happy with this stuff and can’t wait to wear it all spring/summer long!
Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation
This foundation is extremely blendable and I would describe it as a medium–full coverage, with buildability. You can definitely sheer it out and apply a thin layer if you want a more natural look. Or, if you’re heading out to a night on the town, you can build it up and give your skin that flawless look.
The foundation does NOT oxidize on the skin, so the color that you see on the bottle is the color that’s going to stay on your skin all day/night long. I apply this around 7:30 AM and find it to still be on almost 12 hours later. The best part? It doesn’t make me oily or break me out – an issue that I frequently run into with foundations.
Not only does this stuff keep my oily skin at bay, it also gives a sheen/glow (in the right places) that makes my skin look healthy and alive.
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
I love this product, it’s been a staple in my makeup collection for a really long time. Highlighting under my eyes, and covering up those pesky bags is part of my daily makeup routine. I dab my damp beauty blender into this translucent powder and set my under eyes. Not only does it keep my concealer from creasing, it also helps to brighten up under my eyes.
I’ve found a great dupe for this stuff – Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Loose Powder – this stuff is extremely comparable to Laura Mercier’s powder, and a fraction of the price!
